LCD and OLED screens: Differences, advantages, and disadvantages...

We use monitors (screens) almost every day in our lives: computers, televisions, mobile phones... You need a screen to display content. Therefore, when we use a computer or phone every day, our eyes are seeing these products.

With the iPhone X, Apple switched to organic light-emitting diodes as the phone's screen. What are the advantages and disadvantages of organic light-emitting diodes and LCD?

Let's first explain what LCD and OLED are...

LCD stands for:

A colored fluorescent layer is arranged on the upper substrate, and a thin film fixed crystal is arranged on the lower substrate in an LCD screen. The LCD screen is made up of two pieces of glass sandwiched together with a liquid crystal. Under the action of voltage, the liquid crystal in the middle produces different light characteristics, and through the color light layer, it produces different colors.

A brief description of OLED:

The organic light-emitting diode is a panel of light-emitting diodes coated with a thin layer of organic material and a glass substrate. It emits light when an electric current passes through it and reacts differently depending on the current.

LCDs have the following advantages:

As LCD is developed over a long time, we don't have to worry about the screen breaking. It is likely that your other components have been damaged, but the LCD has not been damaged, due to its long life.

It has a white LED backlight control panel, which does not flash the screen, so it is more eye-friendly.

Since LCD development has been good for some time, the cost has been controlled, even a better LCD screen will not be too expensive, especially compared with OLED.

The disadvantages of LCDs include:

In comparison with organic light-emitting diodes, liquid crystals consume much more power, since organic light-emitting diodes consume less power, and the disadvantage of liquid crystals is that they consume less power.

LCD cannot use fingerprint recognition, so this is easily eliminated by technology, since fingerprint recognition has become a basic function.

Thickness: People will become thinner and thinner, but LCD screens will not become thinner, so it will become more difficult to use LCD screens.

OLED has the following advantages:

A flexible screen is a technology product that we have created using the flexible characteristics of OLEDs.

Having its own luminous body, OLED eliminates the need to separate two layers of glass like liquid crystal displays, so it will be thinner and lighter.

The organic light-emitting diodes emit light in partial modes, rather than full light or full dark like LCDs. Because of this luminous mode, it consumes less power.

A picture with bright colors is more beautiful than one with a LCD screen, since pictures are more delicate.

OLED has the following drawbacks:

OLED is susceptible to visual fatigue because of its dimming mode.

Branding and color decay: OLED screens are limited by their relationship with the materials, so think about whether the TV at home will remain branded for a long time, it is one of their shortcomings.

Since LEDs have a short service life, natural products have a short life and a high cost of use.
